the Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang situates at the center of the old city of Shenyang, builted in 1625, covering an area of 46,000-square-meter.
High walls surround the palace, with the Daqing Gate located on the central part of the southern wall. The palace is divided into three parts by the axis crossing the Daqing Gate and the Qingning Palace with the Chongzheng Hall at its center: the east part, the middle part and the west part. The east part, taking the Dazheng Hall as its center, is the site for grand ceremonies. The Yiwang Pavilion to the left of the Dazheng Hall and the Eight Banner Pavilion to the right are the only historic palace spots having witnessed the Eight Banner military system of the Qing Dynasty. The middle part, with the Chongzheng Hall as its center, is the place where Emperor Abahai governed and held court sessions. For the west part, the center is the Wensu Pavilion accompanied in the front by an opera stage and at the rear by the Jiayin Hall.
The richly ornamented the Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang is one of the two existing large-scale palace groups in China.
